First Flight

This walkthrough assumes the E3X is installed and connected to your sim. Load a GA aircraft at an airport of your choice and bring the display up.

The top strip is the CNS bar — COM and NAV frequencies, transponder, and audio at all times. Below it, the PFD: airspeed tape left, attitude center, altitude and VSI right, HSI at the bottom. Tap the baro field and set the local pressure with the keypad or a knob.

Press MENU from the map for map options: orientation, declutter level, and overlays. Pinch or use the range keys to zoom — the range readout shows fuel-range and glide rings if enabled in Map Setup.

Open FPL from the main menu. Tap Add Waypoint, type an airport or navaid identifier, and add a few legs. Your route draws on the map in magenta.

Press the Direct-To key, pick a waypoint (or take the cursor waypoint from the map), and activate. The HSI slews to the direct course.

Open the AFCS controls. Engage HDG and ALT to start; then arm NAV to intercept your flight-plan course. The mode annunciator across the PFD top shows active modes in green, armed in white.

From FPL, choose Select Approach, pick a procedure at your destination, and load it. Approach guidance arms once you’re established inbound.
